Kawerau District Council

The Kawerau District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of eight councillors and the mayor.     Create posters for our children to help them understand how to protect our environment.

    Recite areas in our community where pest control is required and attain it.

  • I believe the council has a robust plan in place for Three Waters and will support all avenues to keep this under council control.

    Waste management in Kawerau needs updating to reflect modern uses. Bigger bins for extended family and options for CBD dwellers.

  • Practice Kaitiakitanga. Care for the mana, the tapu and the mauri of our environment.

    Reduce our rubbish and recyclables that go to landfill.

    Establish community fruit harvesting and appropriate disposal of food waste.
