Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board

The Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of seven members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Utilities and services

Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

  • Ensure an attractive environment by reviewing service levels for cleaners and maintenance of our residential streets and town centres.

    Promote food and green waste collection to reduce waste, with the goal to move to a circular economy that minimises waste.

    Work with Watercare, wider council, mana whenua, Kāinga Ora and ORS to ensure foundations laid now support the refreshed, 30-year MO Area Plan.

  • Make it compulsory for dog owners to take their dogs to a dog school where they can be trained to socialise with other pets and people.

    Create a dog park for dogs and their owners to go to.

    Provide pet owners with registered pets some free pet supplies, eg food, toys, collar, chain or shot etc.
