Local councils are responsible for land use planning under the Resource Management Act, which affects where and how new houses are constructed, as well as the design of cities and towns. In some areas, councils also provide housing to those who need it most.

Local councils are responsible for land use planning under the Resource Management Act, which affects where and how new houses are constructed, as well as the design of cities and towns. In some areas, councils also provide housing to those who need it most.
Ensure that all sub-divisions are well supported by appropriate infrastructure (in district plan which I am part of).
Ensure that all council plantings are drought resistant.
All new builds put in place resilient rainwater storage options (in district plan).
Ensure that the availability of social housing is a major priority, with emphasis on affordability.
Support strategies which will quicken the timeframe for the issuing of building consents.
Provide the opportunity for the homeless to have a roof over their heads.
Commit to building more affordable housing in partnership with iwi and other community housing developers, like community housing providers (CHPs).
Commit to making building consent applications more accessible and easier to navigate.
Commit to streetscape development once water management and infrastructure projects have been completed.
