Why I'm standing

I'm committed to a regional approach to improving and restoring our environment. Ki uta ki tai – mountains to the sea. I live in the headwaters (Queenstown) and think there is not enough consideration of the headwaters area in Otago Regional Council planning nor enough understanding of this unique environment and the pressure it is under.

About me

I've lived in this region for nearly 40 years and have witnessed steady degradation of our water and environmentally inadvisable land use. I am experienced. I've had two terms on the Queenstown Lakes District Council and one on the Otago Regional Council. I have a good base knowledge through my work as a lecturer in sustainable practice and have conducted research around NZ business response to climate change. I am a strong communicator and listen well.

My priorities
  1. Improve river water quality and quantity through planning, knowledge, communication and compliance.
  2. Drastically improve public and active transport systems so travel is easy and low carbon.
  3. Develop and implement a Climate Action Plan that responds to our environmental issues.
