Porirua City Council

Onepoto General Ward
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Five councillors will be elected from the Onepoto ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Porirua City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe there is a lack of connection and transparency between the grassroots communities and the city council. My intentions are to create and strengthen that disconnection and gather more ideas, statistics, issues and solutions from the community.

About me

I have lived in Porirua for over 33 years, my schools, workplaces, initiatives and community envolvement have all been based in Porirua. I am a grassroot individual who sits in most places other candidates could not. My parents, grandparents and my children are also from Porirua, so regardless of this role my fight to better our communities living will always be a priority as this is more than just my home. Porirua is my reason.

My priorities
  1. To ensure that the future generations are able to still be safe, secure and call Porirua home.
  2. To encourage easier living for our elderly and disabled conmunities by meeting their needs.
  3. To protect the environments within Porirua to maintain the wellbeing of both our people and the land.
