Mayor of Queenstown-Lakes District

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Queenstown-Lakes District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm running to create better job opportunities for the next generation. I want my kids, and all children in our region to thrive in the place they grew up in.

About me

I'm a leader and positive change-maker. I was credited with transforming the legal profession's culture and nominated for NZer of the year for my work. I'm future focused, understand technology and have a clear vision for a bright future for the Queenstown Lakes. I bring fresh thinking which can transform our region. I'm a lawyer, which is an important skill. Councils need to adhere to 100+ statutes and an understanding of this is crucial.

My priorities
  1. Addressing our urgent housing shortage. Currently staff can't find anywhere to live. It's terrible.
  2. Opposing Three Waters. The legislation cannot go ahead as currently proposed.
  3. Diversifying our economy. I am the only candidate who is working in this area. It is very important.
