This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I'm an excellent communicator and firmly believe transparency and accountability make for good leaders. I have board experience in not-for-profits and run my own business. I have been a victim advocate (and still advocate for better treatment of victims in New Zealand) and a health advocate. I believe local board representatives should be the biggest advocates for their area, be passionate about doing everything they can to improve the lives of the people in their area.

About me

I believe in honesty, transparency and accountability in public officials. I teach surgeons how to own their mistakes honestly. People will support you if you don't try to hide, but honestly say I made a mistake, I'm sorry. This simple philosophy seems to have been absent from our local board for the last nine years. I'm not afraid to say I don't know and I will find out. And then I do.

My priorities
  1. Change the parameters of the targeted rate so that it can be used for road sealing.
  2. Open board meetings to the public when appropriate to create better transparency.
  3. Communication and engagement with the community on ALL sides of the proposal.
