Mayor of South Wairarapa

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

There are many triggers that prompted me to run. The top three would be that this is a democracy, not a dictatorship, it's important that all voices deserve to be heard. Leadership is being in charge of a team, and at times a combined ability/consensus is needed to make decisions. It's not about you but about the people you are elected to represent.

About me

As a standing councillor, I would like to be able to share my learnings on governance. Moving forward it's important that these learnings and experiences are carried forward to enable continuity.
