Margie Ruddenklau

Southland District Councillor (Oreti Ward)

Why I'm standing

I seek re-election on the Southland District Council, advocating for community-led approaches where local solutions and localism is at the front of decision-making. I want to ensure that every dollar the council spends benefits the ratepayer and is accountable. Prioritising investment into efficient core services is at the top of the agenda to ensure accessibility for those who live, work, and travel throughout the district for a prosperous and progressive Southland.

About me

My name is Margie Ruddenklau and I want to be re-elected to the Southland District Council. As a lifelong resident of Southland, I've volunteered for local organisations such as school and sporting bodies, and I owned and operated Marine South for 10 years. Currently, I'm enjoying farming in the Lora Gorge. There's nothing quite like the green pastures and rolling hills of Southland.

My priorities
  1. Advocate for community-led approaches where localism is at the forefront of decision-making.
  2. Efficient core services to ensure accessibility for those who live and travel in the district.
  3. Ensure that every dollar the council spends benefits the ratepayer and is accounted for.
