Tasman District Council

Richmond Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Four councillors will be elected from the Richmond ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Tasman District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am an entrenched local, I was born in Nelson, raised in Belgrove and Foxhill and after a seven year hiatus in Christchurch, returned here to raise my own family. I'm standing for council because I love this place and I feel we can do better at stewarding it's resources and caring for it's people. I am deeply concerned about increasing centralisation affecting our local issues and grieved over the division it has created.

About me

I hear you. I'm an introvert, I may not have the loudest voice but I listen like a champion. If you feel your concerns are not being heard, I'm your girl. As a wife and mum I have skills, such as budgeting, problem solving, lateral thinking, logistics, advocacy, maintaining mental, physical and spiritual health. I have old fashioned family values like respect for people, property, our bodies and our natural world, and liberty for all.

My priorities
  1. Oppose Three Waters.
  2. Local input for local issues.
  3. Stop the panic based reacting and use commonsense, thoughtful reasoning to plan a great future.
