Tasman District Council

Richmond Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Four councillors will be elected from the Richmond ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Tasman District Council election.

Community focused governance

Why I'm standing

I believe in giving back to our communities through service, with the ultimate way to do so being in a public service capacity. I believe in the community spirit and that collectively we can work together to face the problems and issues facing us, the council and district, but it takes the involvement of all of us to do so.

About me

I have some experience in governance roles but more importantly, I believe my values and beliefs can be used to engage with the community and to create a positive dialogue between council and the respective communities in our district. I have both lived and work experiences in both the rural and urban sectors, so can relate to many and have a deep interest in people and our shared connections and interests as well as our differences.

My priorities
  1. Having greater community engagement with the council through consultation and decision making.
  2. Building greater trust between council and the community through accountability and openness.
  3. Provide a voice for everyone so that we all feel a part of the community and district.
