Tasman District Council

Richmond Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Four councillors will be elected from the Richmond ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Tasman District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want a council that is open and responsive to all constituents whilst being efficient.

About me

I work well with others and am prepared to compromise to get to the best outcome. Having lived and worked in a wide variety of locations, I'm aware of how good we have it – and mindful of the growing pains we face as a ward and district. Not a great fan of meetings so will work to make council process more efficient where possible.

My priorities
  1. Maintain and build trust in local democracy – severely tested by the actions of previous councils.
  2. Improve local resilience to natural events by beefing up critical infrastructure and response groups.
  3. Support social development and cohesion – we are becoming more cosmopolitan and should celebrate that.
