Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board

The Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Ruapehu District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members: five members elected by voters, and one councillor from the Ruapehu District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I have heard many in our community say they do not have a voice in the council and that nothing gets done. I want to advocate for them and help make a change.

About me

I have worked in both local government and in the insurance industry helping rural communities rebuild after natural disasters. I see that we need to build resilient communities, I have experience in working with people from different backgrounds and helping them come together. I care about peoples material conditions and helping them thrive.

My priorities
  1. Build a resilient community, one that can stand against climate change and against economic hardship.
  2. Connect people in the community to share skills and services, to build business and opportunity.
  3. Listen to what people need and take action in the council.
