Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board

The Taumarunui-Ōhura Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Ruapehu District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members: five members elected by voters, and one councillor from the Ruapehu District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Faster identification and repair of potholes. Creating an available map or list and public timeline for fix estimates.

    Ensure ramps on and off curbs are maintained and available for bikes, scooters and wheelchairs.
