The Te Awamutu Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waipa District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of seven members: five members elected by voters, including four members from your area, and one councillor from the Waipa District council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Encourage new industry to set up locally. Make industrial land available. This will keep locals employed and also reduce travel.

    Ensure that infrastructure is capable of dealing with local industries.

  • Proceed with planned cycleways and museum to showcase Waipā's natural and historical attractions; encouraging tourism.

    Liaise with community business leaders with a view to determining and providing for their needs.

  • Work closely with our businesses to get a simple process for getting bollards in front of shops, as a result of the ram raids .

    Support the Te Ara Wai project as it will bring people to our district, spending money and potentially employment.

    Support the removal of large trucks from our mail street if we can find an affordable alternative.

  • Attracting new businesses and retail outlets which will provide more employment opportunities.

    Improving parking provisions especially in Te Awamutu, not just for staff but also shoppers etc.
