Te Awamutu Community Board

Te Awamutu-Kihikihi Subdivision
The Te Awamutu Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waipa District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of seven members: five members elected by voters, including four members from your area, and one councillor from the Waipa District council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Te Awamutu Community Board election.

  • Complete the 'Who Are We' Te Awamutu Survey and ensure it reflects community voice. This will inform the direction we take to build a Te Awamutu brand.

    Support and advocate for the implementation of the recommendations made in the community board review.

    Make sure council listens and supports majority voice when community tells them what they want.

  • Continue working on current model for engaging and partnering with mana whenua and iwi ensuring quality outcome for our whole community

    Support keeping decisions concerning local issues in the hands of the local council.

    Review council employee wages continually to ensure they meet market rates with a view to retaining good staff.

  • Ensure all ratepayers are getting information needed by holding public meetings.

    Reduce staffing levels by reducing management levels. Ensure staff have the right knowledge so less consultants are needed.
