Te Awamutu Community Board

Te Awamutu-Kihikihi Subdivision
The Te Awamutu Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Waipa District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of seven members: five members elected by voters, including four members from your area, and one councillor from the Waipa District council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Utilities and services

Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

  • Force Envirowaste to reduce the price of its yellow rubbish bags. Continue with recycling collections.

  • A question. Even if fluoride were not a controversial chemical, should everyone receive some people's medicine? Health is wealth!

    No to Three Waters. So important to maintain and share the local knowledge on so many aspects of our community. Gives belonging and purpose.

  • By building houses more stormwater is created due to less permeable land taking up water.

    Decline the fluoride proposal. Our water is great and we do not need any poison added. Promoting less sugar and healthy living is better.

    Decline the Three Waters proposal from central government. Our systems are good and we do not need our assets to be given away, they are ours.

  • Keep 'three waters' in local council hands. Change is needed but planned legislation unfair and unworkable.

    Encourage the community to dispose of rubbish responsibly. Advertising/fines.

  • Support holding a DIY garage sale to recycling building offcuts and seconds and prevent them going to landfill.

    Continue support and implementation of the Urban Miners E-waste monthly collection and the battery recycling project.
