Mayor of Thames-Coromandel

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Instigate support promote and open them up as wide as possible without the bureaucratic hurdles, fees and nonsense.

    Increase them dramatically in partnership with every possible network.

  • Support volunteer groups providing surf lifesaving services. Support development of Thames sub-regional swimming facility and Whitianga pool.

    Make it easy for groups staging events to put in place traffic management plans without imposing ridiculously high costs.

    Support devevelopment of Whitianga Esplanade and Town Centre Arts/Theatre space. Source outside funding (not ratepayers) to build these facilities.
