Thames-Coromandel District Council

South Eastern Ward
The Thames-Coromandel District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the South Eastern ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Contract out sensitive projects consultation to consultants, they do it better. Review the cost of doing business internally vs contractors.

    Engage with iwi when they are ready and have nominated their kaumatua/spokesperson. Build respect and rapport with all ethnic groups.

    Support CE in developing an inclusive culture, retention of key staff, and Ward representation to better reflect ratepayers contribution.

  • Encourage people to be part of the community whether it be sports, drama, clubs.

    Encourage all groups to feel included.

    Make the council's operation flexible to meet challenges as they occur.
