Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Become a leader in recycling and invest in additional facilities – along with other authorities. Promote sustainable use/reuse of materials.
Provide a wastewater treatment plant that doesn't impact unfairly on any of our local communities.
Oppose efforts to sell council assets or privatise utility operations.
Advocate for upgrades to the stormwater and wastewater networks in areas likely to face high levels of housing intensification.
Ensure access to a local council information and services centre during the South Library rebuild.
Tackle underinvestment in the sewerage network to cut wet weather overflows into water ways.
Maintain roads and footpaths so we're not playing catch up and patch up.
Put residents and customers at the centre of service delivery not council processes.
