The Waihoro Spreydon-Cashmere-Heathcote Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council.   • Improve the health of the Ōpāwaho/Heathcote River by reducing sediment and stormwater pollution, and promoting planting along its banks.

    Restore nature on the Port Hills by planting native bush, funding pest control projects, and advocating for a Port Hills Management Plan.

    Bring nature back into the suburbs by advocating for the creation of a network of tiny forests and supporting community planting efforts.

  • Ensure everyone has access to safe drinking water and swimmable rivers across Christchurch and Banks Peninsula.

    Support Environment Canterbury, its working groups and the Opawaho-Heathcote River network in addressing local sediment issues – which impact our river's health.

    Increase funding and support for local environmental groups and biodiversity projects which improve our natural environments and neighbourhoods.

  • Plant more trees across the Port Hills and suburban streets.

    Work to protect the Ōpāwaho from contaminants including silt runoff, sewage overflows, and heavy metals.
