Why I'm standing
The council is facing some external issues that are unprecedented and needs a higher level of experience at councillor level to address them, ie Three Waters, changes to RMA and Local Government Act. I believe my extensive business background can be of some value in assisting the council in developing appropriate strategies to address some of these issues.
About me
Firstly I really care about this community. Our decision to relocate to Rangiora over seven years ago was one of the best decisions we have ever made. Secondly, I want to make a genuine difference. Thirdly, I have an extensive background in strategy, risk management, and running 11 different businesses and will bring a pragmatic approach to solving problems that may not be at the council table at present.
My priorities
- Assist the mayor and councillors in appointing the right CEO to take the business forward.
- Slow the Three Waters legislation down with a view to engaging in further discussions on alternatives.
- Ensure the current after hours medical facility planned is extended to a 24 hour facility.
