The Waipapa Papanui-Innes-Central Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Christchurch City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of nine members: six members elected by voters, including two members from your area, and three councillors from the Christchurch City council. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Encourage or incentivise new higher-density housing projects both on new consents and older properties undergoing rebuilding.

    Improve safety in our neighbourhoods for our children through redesigning our urban streets to be less car-orientated and more accessible.

    Institute a form of rental property oversight, requiring landlords within our ward to ensure the homes they rent are safe and healthy.

  • Stop the devastation of existing suburbs caused by rampant intensification. Planning rules need to be more sensitive to the existing homes.

    Improve the building consent and inspection processes so they are faster and cheaper for all involved.

  • Stop over-intensification in our suburbs and ensure living streets, green space, community gardens and playgrounds in short walking distance.

    More council housing to reduce homelessness and ensure affordable rents.

    Supporting community housing across the city to ensure an adequate supply of warm, dry homes.

  • Make all suburban planning applications notifiable to allow residents a say. Ensure compliance with conditions. Offset housing boundaries.

    Ensure wetlands are preserved. Plant natives as a requirement in every development. More pedestrian crossings, near Parks: speed to 40mph.

    Allow low rent council housing leases, work with NGOs on helping persons at present on streets into life programmes and secure housing.
