Wānaka-Upper Clutha Community Board

The Wānaka-Upper Clutha Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Queenstown-Lakes District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of four members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Plant more indigenous trees into urban spaces and streetscapes to provide shade on active travel pathways.

    Free up land supply and zoning in the fringe areas of small regional towns to encourage more growth into the regions.

    Provide safe houses for our homeless communities to recover from trauma and to feel safe.

  • Support higher density housing and people-focused development in the urban areas of Wānaka.

    Support Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust and will support innovative ideas to increase availability of affordable housing.

    Support the Queenstown Lakes District Plan and Spatial Plan and that residential development be focused in or adjacent to urban areas.

  • Continue to provide support to the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust.

    Make resource consent and building consent processes more economic and efficient for the applicant.

    Identify public land in Wānaka which could be offered to the Queenstown Lakes Housing Trust.

  • Bring medium/high density urban living to the town centre.

    Provide ongoing support to the Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust.
