Wellington City Council

Paekawakawa/Southern General Ward
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Two councillors will be elected from the Paekawakawa/Southern ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council election.

Why I'm standing

Working with young people across our city has driven me to fight for a better future Wellington. A city where everyone has the opportunity to live in a warm, affordable home. Where everyone can travel quickly and safely where they want to go. Where the effects of climate change have been reduced and our natural environment is respected. A city that acknowledges and works together with mana whenua.

About me

My work as a bus driver and cycling instructor takes me all over the city, and shows me how our streets work and also how they don't. I've been involved in campaigns on climate, transport and housing over the last few years and understand how council works, and how elected representatives can work together and for you to get things done for our city.

My priorities
  1. Reduce carbon emissions by investing in walking, cycling and public transport infrastructure.
  2. Make our streets better places to be. Everyone should be able to enjoy our streets safely.
  3. Improve housing conditions and affordability by allowing increased densification.
