Wellington City Council

Takapū/Northern General Ward
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Three councillors will be elected from the Takapū/Northern ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council election.

Why I'm standing

From 4th to 50th in the most liveable city has prompted me to contribute my experience as the ex-president of ratepayers' association. After doing my construction engineering from WelTec, I manage a construction company. I was the housing officer and CEO of a corporation. I ran a 15 bus transport company. My experience as general manager, CEO and a successful business owner will help run a harmonised council.

About me

I am not here for a meal ticket. I am a member of Tawa Union church, Tawa Community Patrol, Pest free Tawa and animal rights activist. I planted 400 trees in 2021. I am concerned about our future generation and my city of Wellington. I have lived here for 22 years and having worked as housing officer, general manager and CEO of a corporation, I will bring my management experience to run a better council.

My priorities
  1. Introduce a rate freeze. The current rate rise of 19% to 24% for northern suburb is not acceptable.
  2. Introduce free public transport. This will ultimately reduce car use, congestion and pollution.
  3. More funding for sporting clubs and encourage more and more people to involve in healthy activities.
