Wellington City Council

Takapū/Northern General Ward
The Wellington City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 15 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). Three councillors will be elected from the Takapū/Northern ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Wellington City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe council investment priorities should be core infrastructure and essential services to our community. I believe the council must be more democratic and take the community with it in its plans for better housing, transport and environment. I believe our council needs to focus on the needs of our city and suburbs. Our council needs to champion the city to the government, not the other way round. Our city, it needs its mana back.

About me

I have been actively engaged in community service for Wellington for the last 20 years. I am the president of the Johnsonville Community Association and a public transport advocate. I have successfully taken action in these roles. I have lived in Johnsonville for 28 years, where we raised a family. I am a Senior Business Analyst and bring extensive experience in projects and finance. I'll be an accessible councillor to everyone from Tawa to Johnsonville.

My priorities
  1. Prioritise council funding towards core infrastructure and essential services to the community.
  2. Ensure that the Northern Ward, as a growth area, gets improved transport and infrastructure.
  3. Advocate for evidence-based, transparent use of your rates to make Wellington a better place to live
