West Harbour Community Board

The West Harbour Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Dunedin City Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of six members. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper.     Sustainable housing using modern materials for warm, energy efficient low-cost living.

  • Facilitate funding of local beautification projects to improve our local streetscape environments.

  • Allow development and intensification where it makes sense, not putting extra pressure on infrastructure or natural landscape.

    Encourage the use of home energy audit toolkits (HEAT) for warm, healthy homes, and make more of these available at the library.

    More facilities, parks, public toilets and open spaces for the community and visitors to use.

  • Back council continuing the good work going into the Dunedin Housing Action Plan.

    Support the consideration of community housing development on empty publically owned land in West Harbour.

    Work to ensure that Port Chalmers state houses never sit empty again.

  • Push council to fund a new playground in Port Chalmers.

  • Encourage the planting of fruit trees along our townships streets to mitigate food poverty.

    Assist developers to create green zones within high density housing projects.

    Ease the financial burden faced by the several bodies working with the victims of domestic abuse.
