Why I'm standing

I believe in this community, and the opportunities available to its citizens. I will continue to be an effective community voice by listening to the views of the people. There is infrastructure that needs upgrading, climate change strategies written to protect our environment, cycle tracks to be built, shade sails and bbq's for leisure areas to be constructed. The Whakatāne-Ōhope Community Board is the conduit between the people and council to get these things for the community.

About me

My background is in education. As HOD Social Sciences at Whakatāne High School I'm involved in educational policy. I am steeped in community volunteering, including chair of EBOP Big Brother Big Sisters. I am a team player with proven leadership skills and a competent communicator. As a Whakatāne-Ōhope Community Board member, I built on my role as former mayoress, bringing to the table knowledge of council processes, established relationships, and a background in governance.

My priorities
  1. Sensible spending of the ratepayer community fund.
  2. Infrastructure that benefits the community.
  3. Be aware of the effects of climate change.
