Whangamatā Community Board

The Whangamatā Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Thames-Coromandel District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of four members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support fenced-off areas on our beaches to protect nesting spots for our shorebirds such as the dotterel.

    Commit to predator-free Aotearoa 2050 by engaging with local community groups, iwi and schools.

  • Continue with water treatment activities underway in Whangamata and Onemana. Continue with meter installation in February.

    Manufacture stoat traps and provide assistance for Harbour Care. Fund dotterol protection.

    Progress construction of community hub including the recycling station as part of the complex.
