Whangaparāoa electorate

Whangaparāoa covers the Whangaparāoa Peninsula as well as Orewa, Red Beach and Stanmore Bay. The seat is currently held by National's Mark Mitchell, who won comfortably with a margin of 7,823. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in Whangaparāoa – 40% to National's 37%. The electorate was created in the 2019/2020 electorate redistribution as population growth required the Rodney electorate – a safe National seat – to be split. The northern section of the Rodney electorate was incorporated in the Kaipara ki Mahurangi electorate, with the rest becoming Whangaparāoa.

Why I'm standing

I am standing up as a candidate after watching our democracy slowly getting eroded. Our rights to choose, our freedoms being taken away. Covid was a very upsetting time, friends and families forced to take the jab or lose their jobs was unbelievable to me. Democracy NZ is a party that stands up for our freedoms, our rights to choose and our body autonomy. This is the only party that aligns with my beliefs.

About me

I have a good understanding of the extractive industry and the importance of that in a healthy economy. I'm a strong advocate for the four land expressway through to Whangarei and beyond. I have served the community for 14 years as a volunteer fire fighter and had a strong sense of community. I believe in standing up for the rights of all New Zealanders and less government intrusion in our lives.

My priorities
  1. Roading and infrastructure. Repairs and maintenance. Expansion projects. Sustainability initiatives.
  2. Business initiatives. Economic development. Community expansion. Entrepreneurial support.
  3. Erosion control. Whangaparāoa shoreline. Waterfront erosion control. Permanent repair solutions.
