I came into politics because I wanted to get back into public service after a 14 year policing career. I had been overseas for 10 years and thought we could do a lot better in international business and trade. This election is one of the most important for us as a country, Labour have taken our country backwards in terms of division and economic damage and we are suffering under record levels of violent crime.
I have been lucky enough to represent our communities for four terms. It is very important for local MPs to be deeply involved in the electorate and communities they serve. I'm the patron of several local organisations, a member of a local surf club and a search and rescue team. This keeps me connected with the communities that I represent, providing a strong voice in Wellington and delivering on the issues that matter to them.
