The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Build partnerships between community organisations and private sector entities to facilitate resource sharing and collaboration.

    Ensure diverse facilities, recreational spaces and community services are provided in the North-West and Redhills growth area.

    Push for multi-board funding solutions to balance fairer funding with maintaining assets for local boards.

  • Continue to ensure parks, community centres and sports facilities are available and accessible to the public.

    Continue to fund diverse and vibrant community-led events, eg via EcoMatters, Community Waitākere and Hoani Waititi Marae.

    Fund and support libraries in their growing importance as community activity and information hubs.

  • Keep public facilities like parks, libraries and pools subsidised or free.

    Support local businesses that rely on sports bars to have an easier pathway to licensing.
