Why I'm standing

I am standing for my third term. I now have a great handle on governance, how council works and how I can make a positive impact. I also love Gisborne and have grandchildren here, so every decision is future based.

About me

I have lived here most of my life and was a journalist here for 15 years, including seven years as chief reporter, giving me a great grasp on the place and issues here. I have held previous roles in community groups and served six years on the Gisborne District Council, giving me a solid foundation.

My priorities
  1. Establish a recycling centre and introduce better systems for waste because we have a massive waste problem.
  2. Manage ratepayer funds prudently and ensure the council sticks to core council work.
  3. Investigate another water source for resilience with drinking water for the city.
