Why I'm standing

We can have great public services and a thriving environment with deep cultural benefits by addressing multiple needs with the same dollars. I always ask, 'How can we do that better?' by looking at the big picture differently, turning challenges into opportunities. I want to apply my decades of leadership roles and skills gained at home and abroad for creative ideas benefiting us all that you see on my Facebook page at TomMurphyforGreaterWellington.

About me

As your 'Councillor with a Plan', I want to create integrated solutions by working with everyone (including you) to bring practical ideas to life. Councillors must be good communicators and great listeners and collaborators. I've been doing this for decades, leading diverse teams in innovative action-oriented settings ranging from playing fields to boardrooms. I am passionate about applying my environmental, financial and social enterprise skills for a better vision for our wonderful region.

My priorities
  1. Bring new ideas from day one for integrated solutions for better results and bring down rates rises.
  2. Cut rates by generating renewable electricity for MetLink and rainwater collection for residents and businesses.
  3. Increase volunteer involvement to keep rates down and make Gollan's Valley (Eastbourne) a world-class park.
