Levin General Ward
The Horowhenua District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). five councillors will be elected from the Levin ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Update the 2018 arts and culture plan to reflect the new context we are operating in and include tangible actions that can be delivered.

    Launch a new campaign to make Levin the most connected town in New Zealand and explore ways to leverage assets and groups to that end.

  • Develop Donnelly Park masterplan to future-proof sports and recreation for a growing, active Horowhenua community.

    Explore a performing arts centre as part of Levin's town centre plan to enrich culture and support future community needs.

    Support events that celebrate the evolving identity and diverse ethnicities that make up the Horowhenua community.

  • Celebrate local culture and heritage with events, festivals, museums, exhibitions and art with community input.

    Encourage youth recreation with bike tracks and events, creating safe spaces that boost wellbeing, connection and mental health.

    Upgrade community and sporting facilities to ensure widespread enjoyment and participation from the wider community.
