Levin General Ward
The Horowhenua District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). five councillors will be elected from the Levin ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Ensure O2NL revocation delivers fairness for Horowhenua with no costs that unfairly burden ratepayers or compromise safety.

  • Support transport initiatives already in long term plan.

  • Activate possible travel infrastructure that caters for cycling and walking.

    Consider climate when planning for transport and strengthen transport connections to Palmerston North, Kapiti and Wellington.

    Support local transport improvements and availability for the community.

  • Ensure the opportunities offered by O2NL are leveraged to improve accessibility and vibrancy of the Levin town centre.

    Ensure there is a solution for sufficient car parking for Levin as valuable central space is redeveloped for commercial and residential use.

    Vigorously advocate for the implementation of local bus services to happen as planned by Horizons.
