Mayor of Invercargill

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Invercargill City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I'm running for election because I care deeply about Invercargill and its future. I first stood when I couldn't see anyone at the table who reflected me or the people I knew. Since then, I've never stopped showing up and doing the work. What drives me now is ensuring our city has leadership that listens, that values community voices and that is willing to make the tough calls to keep Invercargill moving forward.

About me

I bring energy, experience and a genuine commitment to our community. Over the past nine years on council I've built strong relationships, chaired committees nationally and worked alongside diverse groups to get things done. I know the value of listening and finding common ground, even when views differ. Invercargill is my home, and I'm deeply connected to the people and organisations that shape it. I'll keep showing up and delivering.

My priorities
  1. Invest in core infrastructure so Invercargill is reliable, resilient and truly open for business.
  2. Keep rates affordable by making smart, staged decisions and cutting inefficiencies.
  3. Put Invercargill back on the map for the right reasons with pride and reputation restored.
