Mayor of Invercargill

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Invercargill City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I am running because I care deeply about our city and the people who call it home. I have seen how easily challenges like housing, transport and community services can be overlooked, and I want to make sure practical, common-sense solutions are put in place. I believe in a city where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, where streets are safe and clean, and where local voices are genuinely heard and acted upon.

About me

I will make a good elected representative because I bring 38 years of global experience back to New Zealand, ready to deliver real solutions for our community. I listen first and act decisively, with strong connections across all walks of life. I value honesty, practical problem-solving and collaboration. My focus is on achieving tangible results that benefit residents, ensuring local voices are heard and tackling challenges with energy, integrity and common-sense solutions.

My priorities
  1. End postcode politics by ensuring all neighbourhoods get fair resources and council attention.
  2. Increase housing at all levels by providing affordable, mid-range and high-end homes for all residents.
  3. Streamline council-resident connections by making submissions heard, transparent and acted upon fairly.
