Why I'm standing

I believe Marlborough, and to a greater degree the area covered by the Marlborough Sounds Ward, is under utilising its unique assets and therefore missing opportunities that would improve operating surpluses and business performance. I want to see a unified approach between council, central government agencies, local business and community groups and local businesses, can greatly improve the performance and reputation of all concerned.

About me

Council is complex with many moving parts and generates massive amounts of paper and data. I am a critical thinker and apply the key questions of why and so what to unearth key insights and value assessments. That skill aligned with having experience in the right forums enables me to make good and equitable decisions. And finally, I have the ability to communicate those decisions in a way that delivers clear and compelling rationale.

My priorities
  1. Create a clear direction for all areas of the Sounds with a strategic plan that doesn't sit on a shelf.
  2. Review all tourism, specifically events and festivals, to better utilise Marlborough's unique assets.
  3. Review plans and budgets to ensure both rates and borrowing fit within defined and acceptable parameters.
