Ahuriri General Ward
The Napier City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). three councillors will be elected from the Ahuriri ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Ensure public facilities are low-cost to ratepayers and managed for fair, inclusive access by all members of the community.

    Support community events that show clear benefit to all and do not serve private interests or hidden agendas.

  • Advocate for a variety of sports to be played in parks and stadiums rather than them being used mainly for one sport with inclusiveness.

    Attend and promote community events especially White Night and Matariki and support events that celebrate Te Ao Māori.

    Focus on free and low-cost community facilities such as the pool and library and advocate to keep the library open despite threat of closure.
