Ahuriri General Ward
The Napier City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 11 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). three councillors will be elected from the Ahuriri ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Ensure zoning rules and infrastructure provide enough housing to meet demand without pushing up rates.

  • Advocate for pedestrian-friendly urban spaces including the main shopping street to encourage a pleasant, healthy and safe city centre.

    Support council’s policy of providing a range of warm, dry and safe council housing for the 60 plus age group.

    Take part in native tree-planting events and encourage biodiversity by advocating for native plantings on council land.

  • Invest smartly in CCTV, CPTED and city ambassadors so Napier's CBD is safe, welcoming and vibrant for residents and visitors.
