Nelson City Council

Nelson City At Large
The Nelson City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the three councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city.) This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Nelson City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running for council because I care deeply about Nelson's future and believe we need strong, experienced leadership to navigate the challenges ahead. I want to ensure our city remains a vibrant, resilient and welcoming place for everyone. I have worked in leadership roles here and overseas and know how to deliver results, build consensus and get things done for our community.

About me

I bring over 20 years of leadership experience in both the private and public sectors, with a proven record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget. I am committed to transparency, collaboration and listening to the community. I have worked closely with diverse groups and know how to bring people together to achieve shared goals. Nelson is my home, and I am dedicated to representing its people with integrity and energy.

My priorities
  1. Focus rates on essentials like water, infrastructure and core services, not nice-to-haves.
  2. Revitalise the city, waterfront and marina while growing Nelson's sustainable Blue Economy.
  3. Be responsible kaitiaki by protecting the environment and building climate resilience for the future.
