Nelson City Council

Nelson City At Large
The Nelson City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. This election is for the three councillors elected by all voters in the city. The other councillors will be elected to represent wards (areas in the city.) This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Nelson City Council election.

Why I'm standing

I want to make sure Nelson is affordable for our community and the best place to live and grow a family, and for local businesses to thrive.

About me

I have a proven track record of working hard for this community both as a city councillor and outside of council. Stood strong on what I believe is best for the wellbeing of our community. Even when I have been a sole voice at the table. I've never backed down on asking or answering the tough questions. I have never been dictated by any political party agenda. And have always put our Nelson community first.

My priorities
  1. Reduce rate spend and debt, as yearly rate increases are not sustainable.
  2. Focus on core responsibilities, not current vanity projects and political party-driven ideology.
  3. Look after the environment and community wellbeing.
