Paraparaumu Community Board
The Paraparaumu Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Kapiti Coast District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one member from the Kapiti Coast District Council. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I have been on the Grants Allocation Subcommittee Creative Communities Scheme for the last 4 years at KCDC. My time is coming to an end and I realised I worked very well in that team. I decided I wanted to work further for Kāpiti so decided to stand for the Paraparaumu Community Board as I want to take responsibility and accountability to represent the residents of Paraparaumu and the great Kāpiti region.
About me
I am a very good listener and team player. I love living here on the Kāpiti Coast and have been here for over 35 years. I work in the creative industries – music, film, dance and more recently I have formed the Kāpiti Sketching Group, who meet once a month. This is because of the travel sketching workshops I have organised by bringing down Auckland expert tutor Tony McNeight for the last two years.
My priorities
- Develop a sculpture project on the beaches of Kāpiti, using existing driftwood for sand stability.
- Encourage more interested youth to partake in the existing BMX club.
- Diary cleaning out of all stormwater drains in March of autumn leaves to stop floods after it rains.
