The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Improve and support local waterways and water quality.

    Support local groups working in waste reduction to continue their mahi to limit waste entering landfills or heading to piggeries.

    Support local pest and environmental groups to help achieve goals as set out in Pest Free 2050.

  • Continue to support various local environmental groups that are helping repopulation of native plants, birds and reptiles.

    Support all efforts to reduce household and industrial waste going to landfill by increasing support for zero waste projects.

    Support need for all homes to have water collection tanks and community water retention ponds to reduce runoff and sedimentation.

  • Develop programmes that raise awareness about environmental stewardship and empower residents to take part in conservation activities.

    Encourage development that respects ecological values, minimises habitat loss and prioritises green spaces within urban and rural planning.

    Support initiatives to preserve native forests, wetlands and waterways, and encourage community-led restoration projects.
