Rodney Local Board

Kumeū Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Whether public transport is the responsibility of the regional or local council depends on where you are in the country. Local councils also own 87% of New Zealand’s roads.

  • Strongly advocate for a bypass around Kumeu-Huapai to drastically reduce congestion on SH16 and support increased funding of road improvements.

    Strongly support AT bus service and any additions to the service requested by the community and strongly support passenger trains to Huapai.

    Support infrastructure that makes walking, running, scooters and cycling safer as the area is relatively flat and this could reduce vehicles.

  • Back the push for improved road surfaces and sealing more roads to future-proof the transport network.

    Build a strong public transport network that reduces congestion and supports growth such as rail and busway.

    Push for the bypass around Kumeū.

  • Ensure all new housing developments include integrated transport links so growth does not leave communities stranded in traffic.

    Improve road speed signage on our roads.

    Support new and expanded park-and-ride hubs to make commuting easier.
