Kumeū Subdivision
The Rodney Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of nine members. Members are elected to represent different subdivisions within the local board area. two members will be elected from your area. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Push for an early structure plan for a new town centre in Huapai allowing future growth and development out of the flood plain.

    Stop any further homes being built on flood-prone land as this is critical to protect families from large scale climatic events.

    Support development of a resilience plan that will reduce harm to businesses in Kumeu and allow them to continue trading into the future.

  • Collaborate with local iwi to incorporate mātauranga Māori in environmental and community projects that reflect Kumeū's heritage and values.

    Engage with the community to plan and adapt the business district's development in response to recent flooding risks.

    Ensure land is zoned to meet growth needs, balancing housing availability with protection of green spaces and community character.

  • Create a plan to enable greenspaces, parks and playgrounds to be maintained and protected as Taupaki – Kumeū – Waimauku – Riverhead grows.
