Why I'm standing
I'm standing because I believe our district is in serious financial trouble. I was appalled by the internal audit, the consistent errors in budgeting etc, little surprise the borrowing and debt are ballooning out of control. Someone must challenge this narrative. I will bring rigorous scrutiny to the council table, ask the tough questions, and ensure we get back to basics: delivering core services affordably and living within our means.
About me
I'm not a politician; I'm a pragmatist and a realist who finishes what they start and is focused on results. I believe council must be transparent and follow the public's consensus, not make key decisions in isolation. My commitment is to apply a common-sense, business-like approach to every issue, ensuring we build a more accountable council that delivers better value for our rates whilst meeting the ratepayers needs.
My priorities
- Pursue a back-to-basics budget, focusing on core services to halt unaffordable rate hikes.
- Ensure future decisions are collectively made with, not forced on the community.
- Focus on debt minimisation, and then reduction as soon as possible.
