Mayor of Upper Hutt

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Upper Hutt City Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

Upper Hutt has huge potential. We need an energetic and dedicated mayor to make the city the best in the region to raise a family. I am running to create a more liveable city while improving the way we spend public money. I am running to create a more transparent and inclusive council.

About me

I started my career in local government while studying business and resource management. I'm now a strategic advisor to councils across the country, helping them solve big challenges in infrastructure, transport, strategy and urban planning. From this experience, I know how to make pragmatic, responsible decisions that create public good and are affordable.

My priorities
  1. Create a vibrant city centre where families love to spend time together.
  2. Make it easier for everyone to get around the city.
  3. Plan ahead for the infrastructure needed and ensure costs are fairly distributed.
